While traveling I always document locations where I can imagine a story. There is a rich layer of history in the trompe-l-oeil depictions of the baroque inspired ceilings. They bring a different point of view and I wanted to investigate their psychological impact, the viewer always perceives them from a distance. Painting the ceilings on canvas creates a new experience of looking at them, an act of bringing their details closer. Also shifting the familiar, the interiors imagine a slightly dystopian narrative which resembles venetian buildings, where water slowly rises.
